How Important is it to Advertise?

"Advertising is salesmanship mass produced. No one would bother to use advertising if he could talk to all his prospects face-to-face. But he can't."

                                    - Morris Hite

"Many businesses don't advertise, but the first thing an owner does when he goes out of business is advertise the business for sale"
                         - Unknown, but still in business

Getting to Know Southwinds

News & Views for Southern Sailors

Southwinds Magazine is a 13-year-old, Florida-based sailing magazine that covers racing, cruising, and gunkholing throughout the southern sailing waters from Texas through Florida to the Carolinas and inland lakes.

Southern Sailors Read Southwinds
The southern sailing waters that Southwinds covers represents a large portion of the 2.5 million sailing enthusiasts in the United States. Southwinds is written by and for these Southern sailors. Ask any sailor in the South and they will tell you they know and read the magazine.

Racing News
Southwinds is the only sailing magazine that covers racing events in the southern waters. This includes regular columns, like Southern Sailing, which discuss the racing community, and periodic columns on racing tactics.

Southern Cruising Waters
What are the southern cruising waters covered by Southwinds? For southern sailors those are the inland lakes and coastal waters from the Carolinas south through Georgia, all of Florida down through the Keys and up into the upper Gulf states. Then throw in the Bahamas, Cuba, and the Caribbean.

Bubba Whartz
Monthly, the tales of live-aboard sailor Bubba Whartz, written by well-known writer Morgan Stinemetz, come to readers of Southwinds. Bubba grew up with Southwinds and has been an ever-returning character in the magazine since 1994. Knowledge of the adventures of Bubba go far beyond southern readers.
